6 Super Tips To Get Your Articles Read
Hey people,
It has been a while since I last made a post, so I thought I better just let everyone know that I’m still alive.
I also need to give you an update about the report that I’m writing which I talked about at the end of my previous post – How I built my List from 50 to 2000 in around 15 weeks!…
Basically it is taking me longer than I thought to create, I’ve had a busy few weeks with things in real life and I had to put a few things on hold, mainly because we’ve been having work done in our house and had to keep turning the electricity off so the work could be carried out safely… Anyway I’m back on track now and I’ll try and get the report completed as soon as I can.
Okay, so moving on to the main topic of this post…
6 Super Tips To Get Your Articles Read
It is no secret that there are many people who dread having to write articles, reports and even blog posts. Many just feel like it seems to be too much work and it all just goes to waste when nobody reads them.
To some people reading articles can seem like work too, especially if the article is boring and bland. Well, articles are supposed to be read, that’s their purpose, to pass on your message and information. If it is not read then it is clearly a waste of time and effort.
But all the same articles have to be written to be read, it’s just a matter of making them good. Making a good article doesn’t have to be strenuous and straining, there are just some points needed to be reminded of, and some guides to follow. Once you get the hang of it writing articles can be fun, as well as profitable for you and your site.
Of course, when writing articles it must be on a subject that you know about, that’s why if you own a site you are probably knowledgeable about that certain topic and theme. When you write about it you won’t have a hard time because you already know what it is, and what it’s about. It’s just a matter of making your articles creative and interesting.
To make sure that your articles get read and enjoyed, here are six tips to get your articles read. These tips will make your articles readable and interesting to your readers.
1) Use short paragraphs. When the paragraphs are very long the words get jumbled in the mind of the reader, just looking at it It can get quite confusing and make it hard work to read. The reader will usually just quickly scan long paragraphs and move on, so it’s much better to make your paragraphs nice and short. Paragraphs can be a single sentence, sometimes even a single word!
2) Make use of numbers or bullets. As each point is stressed, numbers and bullets can quickly make the point easy to remember and digest. As each point, tip, guide or method is started with a bullet or number, readers will know that this is where the tips start and end. Format your bullets and numbers with indentations so that your article won’t look like a single block of square paragraphs. Add a little bit of flair and pizazz to your articles shape.
3) Use Sub-headings to sub-divide your paragraphs in the page. Doing this will break each point into sections but still would be incorporated into one whole article. It would also be easy for the reader to move on from one point to another; the transition would be smooth and easy. You will never lose your readers attention as well as the point and direction to where the article is pointing. (One person that I’ve noticed doing this well is Vance Sova, who is a regular reader of my blog, you can find a link to his blog in my Top Commentators list to the left)
4) Provide a good attention-grabbing title or header. If your title can entice a person’s curiosity, you’re already halfway in getting a person to read your article. Use statements and questions that utilize keywords that people are looking for. Provide titles or headers that describe your articles content but should also be short and concise.
Use titles like… “How To Quit Smoking and Live Longer”, or “How To Beat Tobacco and Quit For Good” .You could also use titles that can command people, for example, “Quit Smoking NOW In Six Easy Steps…”. These type of titles reach out to a persons’ emotions and makes them interested.
5) Keep them interested from the start to the finish. From your opening paragraph, use real life situations that can be adopted by the reader. Use good descriptions and metaphors to drive in your point, just don’t over do it. Driving your examples with graphic metaphors and similes would make it easy for them to imagine what you are talking about. Making the experience pleasurable and enjoyable for them.
6) Utilize figures when necessary and not just ordinary and boring statements. Using specific facts and figures can heighten your article because it makes it authoritative. But do not make it too formal, it should be light and easy for people to follow. A bit like a friendly teacher having a little chat with an eager student.

Hi Paul,
Good to know ‘you’re still alive’
Thanks for this awesome article! It demonstrates what an article really is methodically.
As you said, articles should be first of interesting. At least interesting enough to be red by a target audience.
But there are many ways to write articles. You can write them in a more serious tone or just a casual friendly tone. Like you would when you tell a story.
In fact, the best response an article could get is when you’re writing it in a ‘story’ way.
Everybody likes stories so why not use that to capture the attention of the reader.
I just finished reading an article by Jacinta Dean (I see she’s top of the top commentators). She was talking about a tragic unfortunate accident that happened to her and her family. And because she wrote that article as if she would’ve told a story i was totally captivated by the ‘story’.
Thanks again Paul. And hope that report will see the light of day very soon. I already know it’s gonna be top-quality stuff
Take care,

Hi Remi,
Yes using stories to get your message across is definitely the best way to captivate your audience. It also good to use metaphors whenever you can.
I’ll have to see if I can find that post on Jacinta’s blog when I next visit, I haven’t had the time to visit many blogs recently. I’m going to make some time to do that this weekend.
The report is getting there, but it’s going to be way more pages than I first planned.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul
Hey Paul,
How’s it all going buddy! That must have been a real pain having the electricity on and off…back to the stone age LOL !!

Hi Rob,
Yes it was real pain having no electricity, made me realise how lucky we are to be living in today’s technologically advanced world. It also gave me some time to look over my “Master Plan” and improve on things.
I only have two articles online right now, but this is something I’m going to be getting into soon. I haven’t had much traffic from those articles, but that’s because I didn’t so things properly, like doing backlinks for the articles and social bookmarking them.
Will be over to your blog soon to check out that intersting post on Safelists.

Great tips Paul…
I actually think I’ll print this out and save the link so I have it handy.
I am working on hiring outsourcers (writers) from the Philippines and they really need to read this, so I’ll save it and send them the link when they are ready
You summed it up so well, there is no need to add anything.
Thanks again Paul,

Hi Paul,
It was nice to read that you are indeed still kicking.
Writing articles that people will read is not always easy but with the points and guidelines you give in this post it may be just a bit easier.
To me the key is to start writing and things will come together. You can always re-write things to make them better.
By the way, my ebook is ready if you want to have a look.
I hope that your house is fixed and you’ll be able to work on your blog and your report to your heart’s desire.

Yes the key is to just start writing, good point. If you don’t start writing you will end keep putting it off for another day, week, month, etc…
That’s great news that your ebook is ready, I will be over to grab a copy tomorrow.
One job is complete, but now we are going to be having all the floorboards ripped up to have central heating installed… So not looking forward to that upheaval and will be happy when it’s over.

Hi Paul,
Imagine how good it’ll feel to have it all done when the job is finished.
I’ve arrived home from my travels just a few hours ago and look forward to having a chat with you when your house renovations are finished.
In the meantime, when you have some time to relax from all the heavy work noise for just a few minutes, I’d appreciate if you could check out a review on my blog. I’m sure you’ve heard of John Chow.
I’ve recently read his new book and met with him soon after. It was my goal for almost a year to get to meet him and find out how he does business.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the tips, writing blog posts and emails is something I did find difficult to start with although it is getting easier the more I do.
I like tip 2 – using numbered points as it also makes it easier to write
eg Seven Secrets or Ten Top Tips.
I’ve not done many articles, only have 4 on Ezine Articles but I am planning to do more soon,
Thanks

Hi Keith,
Yes I prefer to write blog posts using numbered points, makes things much easier and give your post a good structure.
Those sort of posts also make it easier to read for your audience, and they can scan through the points and take the information they need.
I’ve not got done many articles yet either, I’ve only got 2 articles published online at the moment. Like you, I’m planning to do more very soon.

Paul-
Great post! I just spent some time writing a post regarding article writing as well! We covered some similar points, but you hit a few that I had not thought about! I didn’t delve into the facts and figures in your last section, and I think that is a very important aspect!
I laughed when I read “A bit like a friendly teacher having a little chat with an eager student.”…being a teacher, I know about those chats!

Hi Paul,
Great article!
I am still avoiding article writing!
I am such a procrastinator in that department.
Thank you for the hints and tips. Like Kathy I will star the post so I have reference to when I do finally write them. I am only just mastering doing my blog posts!
Hope all is going well and good luck with the new report. Can’t wait to have a read!
See you back here soon!

I’ve been putting article writing off too, I’ll definitely be getting into it though because it’s a great way of getting traffic to your websites.
I’ve not been by your blog for a while so I’ll be visiting you soon.
Thanks for the comment,

I agree with you on this comment Paul. Article marketing did wonders to my traffic when I started doing it consistently for the last 2.5 years. I still hate writing them but I need the practice to make my blog posts tick and make visitors stick.

Hi Paul
Good to hear that you are still in the land of the living. LOL
Great points to make an article readable and interesting.
4) Provide a good attention-grabbing title or header. is tremendously important.
I’m always torn between using a great headline and trying to get my keywords into the headline – usually go for an attention grabber.
BTW – notice that you use the Sexy Bookmarks plugin, would you recommend it?
Keith Davis´s last blog ..Laugh and the world…
Hi Keith,
I know what you mean about choosing between an attention grabbing headline/title and trying to fit your keywords in.
I always try to get my keywords in the title if I can though, as that is the most important place to have your keywords.
The Sexy Bookmarks plugin is like a lot of the other social bookmark plugins really, it just looks cooler.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul

Hey Paul,
These are great tips. I personally do not write articles, as I hate writing, and get them outsourced. But now that I have setup a blog as part of Alex’s 3.0 coaching, these tips will come in very handy. I will definitely gives these pointers to my outsource parties also. Thanks for sharing.
