My Goals For 2010
This post is a little overdue, but first I don’t want you to think I started the year off slacking… Far from it!
I have been very busy behind the scenes concentrating on setting things up to build my list, and I’ve also been working on a few things that will hopefully help bring some extra money in to fund things like Aweber, hostsing, etc…
I will most likely blog about my other projects when I’ve had time to see if they bring in the desired results, and what ever happens I will more than likely create a product for you to benefit from, be it about my success or otherwise… And of course I will make it free of charge to my subscribers!
I’ve also spent a good amount of that time planning for the weeks and months ahead, so I’ll move on now and state my goals for 2010 to the world, something which I’ve never done before might I add…
==============
My Goals For 2010
These are the things I am going to achieve by the end of 2010:
Business Goals
- Build my list to 10,000 (current total stands at 345 so I have a looong way to go, I think it’s achievable though)
For the first quarter of the year my goal is 2000 by April 1st (I will update this every quarter)
- To be Consistently making between $2,000 – 3,000 per week
- Get my Alexa traffic rank inside the top 100,000 (currently stands at 211,236)
- Create a successful Membership Site of some kind
- Create and release at least 2 products based on my results with things I’m doing to build my business
- Help as many newbies as possible get started with their online endeavours, and give them my full support
- Make a blog post every 1-2 weeks
- Do a WSO (Warrior Special Offer) on the Warrior Forum in February
- Create videos for my blog and subscribers every month (currently in the process of learning more about creating screen capture presentations)
- Make easy to follow action plans for each part of my business
- Do more keyword research and Search Engine Optimise this blog and rank on the first page for all my chosen keywords and key-phrases
- Add some sales funnels into the mix
- Surround myself with like minded positive people and keep in contact on a daily/weekly basis (already in process)
- Test and track everything that I do, and work on ways to improve the results
- Give myself a set start and finish time for working on my business each day, and use the time wisely. (Any internet usage after that is my leisure time.)
- Work to a countdown timer on each task to get the best use of my time, and increase my productivity
- Treat this as proper business, if YOU don’t work hard enough YOU get fired! ( this is to give me some motivation when I read this back each week.)
- Make a new pledge to myself and read it each day before I start working on my business
- Look back at these goals every day to remind me why I’m doing this, and what I want to achieve by the end of the year ( This is written in my pledge)
- Stick to a strict plan of action at all times
- Have a set routine to motivate myself before I start working each day
- Keep a Journal documenting everything that I do each day, and make it a part of my daily tasks to write it.
Entrepreneurial Goals
- Create a system that brings me a consistant flow of leads into my business
- Refer back to the MWA coaching and listen to it all again, check my notes from the first time and see what I missed.
- Work harder at branding myself
- Learn more about making video screen presentations
- Study copy-writing
- Study sales funnels
- Study SEO
- Study product creation
- Get into the habit of focusing on the positives, and irradiate the negatives
- Study motivational material
Personal Goals
- Make enough money so my dad can take a well deserved early retirement. (This means so much to me, and is the main reason I’m doing this. My dad has barely taken a day off work in 10 years, probably longer.)
- Make enough money to put towards buying a detached house for my parents, and me while I still live with them (I still live with my parents in a small semi-detached house right now, so we all need somewhere bigger now)
- Make enough money to be able to afford my own place and all the bills that go with it
- Treat my mum and dad to an all expenses paid holiday
- Do more exercise and get out of the house more
- Keep things neat and tidy and have a clean up each month (right now I’ve got papers everywhere, my desk is dusty, and I keep losing things)
- Book myself a holiday
- Book myself and some friends on a driving experience weekend at Silverstone Race Track
- Treat myself to a 50″ widescreen TV (or maybe slightly smaller if I’m still in this small house..lol)
- Purchase a PS3 once I’ve acheived some of my big monetary goals (I could afford one of these now, but I don’t want to distract myself from my business, so this will be a treat)
I’m off to start breaking this down into monthly and weekly plans now, I hope you have enjoyed this insight into my business and what I have planned for the future.
Now go and create your own plan of action, feel free to use mine for ideas… But remember that your goals and plan will be different than mine, and it is important to include things in your personal plan that will motivate you and drive you to succeed, no matter what it takes.
Also you may wonder why I haven’t really added that many expensive treats for myself in my personal goals, well for me it is making other people happy and seeing their reactions that gives me a buzz… And doing things for the people I care about is more than enough motivation for me, so the most expensive of my personal goals are actually for other people as crazy as that sounds.
It’s also so I can tell my Dad ” I told you so”… He doesn’t believe that it’s possible to make money doing what I’m doing, which only pushes me harder to make it happen… So thanks Dad.
Paul
PS- Making your goals public like I have here is the best way to accomplish them, you see holding myself accountable to you all, and displaying my goals here for all to see, is going to make me work my butt off to achieve them. Because I will be writing another post at the end of the year, like I did with 2009, The Year It All Began…., and while it won’t be the end of the world if I don’t achieve everything I set out to do, it won’t make me feel to good having to say I didn’t manage to achieve this , this and this.
Also feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think of my goals, and if you don’t have a blog of your own yet (highly recommended) then you can simply hold yourself accountable to me and the readers of my blog by replying to this post with your goals.
Don’t be shy, give it a try!

Hey Mike,
Hope you got some ideas from my plan, and thanks for the compliment.
My ebook is doing great thanks, I’ve had well over 200 downloads now and some good feedback on it.
Thanks for dropping by,

Hi Paul,
Wow!!! I agree with Mike, your list puts me to shame!
It will be really interesting to see how far you get over the next 12 months. Having watched you just this last 6 months I would have to say I am sure you will achieve quite a few of those goals. you have come so far already!
Cool Cool Cool! I think I need to write a new list!

Hi Jacinta,
It certainly will be interesting to see how far I get, I hope to achieve all of them and only time will tell.
One thing is for sure though, I will still be here working at it this time next year… I’m in this for the long haul!
Definitely write a new list Jacinta, and then tell the world what you plan to achieve… I twill make you work twice as hard as normal.

Hi Paul,
Your plans are grand and I like them all wishing to be able to do that much myself.
Reading your post and your goals reminds me again of the importance of setting goals and sticking to them.
I’m glad that you will learn SEO and rank for all your keywords on the first page of Google. That is a dream goal of mine too.
I have some goals set now and I still find it very hard to do all the necessary activities necessary to accomplish them.
Life happens and what I set out to do needs to be put aside usually when I’m most determined to do what I planned.
I still have to run my offline business and it sometimes simply takes over no matter how much I wish it didn’t.
But for the most part it’s still me getting in my own way by allowing myself to be distracted away from the top priority things by still important but less so tasks.
You have a lot of courage to lay things out for everybody to see.
I know it will help you to do them.
I wish you a lot of luck and I hope that you’ll accomplish everything in your plans.
And when you do it will be a great motivation for me and everyone else who read your plans.

Hi Vance,
Thanks for the great comment, It’s appreciated.
The reason I wanted to set all my goals out for all to see, was because I have also found myself getting very distracted after the live coaching came to end. So doing this will help motivate me and help me stay on track.
Also the fact that it’s here on my blog means I don’r just forget about them, because I’ve made a category so I can easily see them when I need to… They say writing things on paper is better sometimes, but it is no good when that paper gets put away and forgotten.
Unfortuately that is what happened last year with my sheet of goals… Oops!
So this year I want to really push myself to make something happen. Which means making sure my goals don’t get lost for a start.
.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll try and stop by your blog real soon… I’ve not had the time to do any blog commenting recently, but I will get around to everyone who has commented here recently and repay the favour on their blogs.

Hi Paul,
Wow, you have a really detailed list and a lot of thought put into it. For some reason I go blank when I sit down to make specific goals. I know I need to build my list and I know how much I would like to be making per month. I might take some notes from yours to help me with mine.
Can’t wait to see you crossing them off as you accomplish them this year! Take Care – Heidi
Heidi Passey´s last blog ..What is a Profit Pulling Platform?
Hi Heidi,
I would make list building your number 1 priority this year. when I first started I got way to caught up with my blog and driving traffic to it, when really that time would have been better spent trying to build my list.
I have put build my list to 10,000 at the top of my list because that is my number 1 priority, the rest of the stuff isn’t in any particular order, but I wanted to make sure that goal is the first thing I see when I look back at this post.
And yes, please feel free to get some ideas for your own set of goals from mine, that is part of the reason I have made this public, I want to help my readers and subscribers see how I’m going about it, so they can use it as a template.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul
Hey Paul,
That’s quite the list you have here. The one I like the most is to have a list of 10k subscribers by year end. I like that one because that’s exactly what my main goal is. Like you I have a long ways to go but that’s the one goal I’ll be focusing on all year.
I like the fact that your goals are not all focused around you but to help your family and others. It is a much better feeling to have helped someone else and see the happiness on their face than it is to be all about yourself.
Don’t get me wrong though, I do want to make tons of money while doing it.

Jeff Sargent´s last blog ..Aweber Click Tracking – How Not To Do It
Hey Jeff,
Yeah 10,000 on my list is the main goal this year for me, I’m up to 500 so far since I wrote this post, so it’s going ok… I’m trying everything I can to reach 2000 by end of March 2010.
You are exactly right about it being a much better feeling doing things to help others, and that is what I’m all about… I just seem to get a great deal of pleasure when I do things to help people, especially when it is someone who really deserves it.
Of course like you I want to make a decent amount of money for myself too, even if all I do is reinvest it into my business. The feeling of security you get with having enough money in the bank to live on is nice too.
Thanks for leaving a comment.

Hi Paul,
Some great stuff on here. Sounds as though last year was a really good year for you and it’s looking as though 2010 will be even better. Keep up the great work!

Yeah I keep thinking that every time I read it, I better get moving!…lol
I wanted to get everything out of my head, and onto my blog so it’s stored where people can look at it and get ideas for themselves… Hopefully I will achieve most of it.
I’m good thanks, and yes we will catch up soon.. Things have just got really busy all of a sudden for me lately.
Paul
Oh really Paul I can’t believe how lazy your being this year
…
I am OF COURSE kidding!! Well done mate for laying out an ambitious set of targets and I’m sure with a proper plan and your dedication you’ll reach your goals.
Just make sure you make time to enjoy your rewards like the PS3. Mine stayed brand new boxed up for 3 months while I was too “busy” but that was back when I was a busy fool!!

Hey Marcus,
Thanks for your comments as always mate, and thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me all the comments that you do.
I’m sure we will meet one day mate, as I know we are both in this business for the long haul, so I’m pretty sure we’ll meet up at an event somewhere down the line mate.
But I already feel like I know you anyway.
Speak soon pal,
Paul
Hi Paul
Great post mate, Setting your targets and goals will motivate you towards getting them done quicker than not setting them at all.
And don’t get distracted with other non productive things that only slow your targets down, you then you end-up not getting them done like you hopped.
Take care Paul

Hey Danny,
I totally agree mate, I’m getting things done so much faster since I started setting out my goals.
And thanks for the reminder, I have actually been letting non productive things distract me lately, and my productivity as seen a decrease.
I’m back on the ball now though, and attacking my “To Do” list.
Thanks for stopping by mate,
Paul
Wow! That’s a lot of goals. My list isn’t that ambitious at all, maybe I should re-work it a bit, haha. Good luck attaining all of yours!
Kelly´s last blog ..How to Take Action Photography
Cool post Paul and very honest. Goodluck with achieving all those goals… I think that as soon as you get a WSO going in Feb(already done?!) then you’ll massively boost your list (with a healthy number of buyers).
Can only be a good thing.
The hardest thing for me is going back and reviewing my goals so daily progress and making sure I spend my time productively is (for me) a more realistic workrate.
Can wait for an update!
Nice post. I like your blog.
