Paul’s Recent Activity Report – September/October 2009
I’ve decided it’s about time I posted an update of my progress, and what I have been doing recently. This is actually an idea I came up with after visiting Jacinta Dean’s blog. Jacinta has been doing weekly posts of her daily tasks, and I’ve been meaning to do something similar for a few weeks now.
I’ve decided not to do a list of my daily tasks for the week, as I doubt I would keep up with it. So instead I will try and do one of these posts, once a month, as I think this will be less of a chore for me!
I wasn’t really writing things down much back in August, so I’ll start in September.
Now I can see how important it is to keep a journal of your daily tasks, this is something that Alex Jeffreys talks a lot about in the coaching. So if you haven’t started to keep a journal yet, then I recommend you to start one today!
September
- Contributed in a Giveaway event for the first time, and unbeknown to me, I went and chose the only event with different rules from the average giveaway. The rules in this giveaway were that instead of all gifts being shown at the start, you had to earn points by referring people to get your gift shown! I don’t think my gift ever shown because I found it hard going to get referrals. So that put me off giveaways a little, as I thought they were all like that.
- Caught up on some coaching modules that I had fallen behind on.
- Ended up not being very well throughout September, and it made me lose focus a bit. I also let my birthday pass by without mentioning it here. It was on 17th September, and I turned 28! I had a few beers with my cousin, and despite being ill I still managed to have a decent time.
- Installed the Alexa Toolbar which sparked a string of posts about it – Improve Your Alexa Rank Challenge (Part 1), Alexa Rank Challenge (Week 1 Update), and Top 10 Tips To Increase Alexa Rank
- Started trying out different things with MyBlogLog to see if I could get some extra traffic from there.
- Started enjoying blog commenting more, and made some good friends in the process.
- Had an idea for my first ebook/report, and started to plan and write it.
- Purchased one of John Thornhill’s latest and greatest products – Profit From PLR . I’ve had a quick look at the videos and this is top quality information, and I’m pretty sure that once I put this into action (which will be as soon as I’ve finished working on my free ebook) I’m sure I will be able to make some good monthly income from this business model. I can also see this building me some big targeted lists in various niches too.
October …so far
- Made a blog post about what I had learnt from experimenting with MyBlogLog to drive traffic – How I Use MyBlogLog To Drive Targeted Traffic.
- Continued writing ebook, but started to struggle with it a bit. I’ve heard it called writers block, and I know exactly what they mean now.
I have been writing pages, then having a break. When I come back and read what I wrote in the last session, I decide it’s a load of rubbish and delete it. But I’m getting on with it a bit better now and not reading it back so much. It’s also turning out to be a longer book than I planned.
- Found what I think it a decent package to use for the Giveaway events. I’ve submitted it to 2 events so far, which haven’t yet launched. I’m going to set a page up showing all the current giveway events soon, as this might help with referrals? I’ve seen a lot of others doing this so I think it must help a bit?
- I set up a second Twitter account based on one of my profit pulling platforms, and to help build my list. Currently I’ve grown it to 2,600 followers in 3 weeks. I’m not sure whether or not you are supposed to have more than 1 account? But I noticed one of my friends on the coaching has set up another account, and he doesn’t seem to have had any problems. And I’ve not had any issues either.
- Secured my place for Lee Mcintyre’s live workshop in Manchester, which is perfect for me because I live in Manchester!
But this has also been a huge step for me, because as you may have read in my 25 Things You Should Know post, I have a bit of a problem with unwanted anxiety. Just a few short months ago I would have done anything possible to avoid going to an event like this. But ever since I started on Alex Jeffreys coaching program my self confidence has been rising at a fast rate, and instead of dreading the event I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be making a post or three about it afterwards, but it’s not for another week yet!
- Started keeping a journal of my daily tasks rather than just writing the odd thing down, which I was doing before.
- I seem to have been focusing too much on my blog recently, and not spending enough time on my list building. So I’ve changed my focus back to list building, which is where it should be.
- Installed some more plugins on my blog, and updated my Blog Plugins page. One of the plugins I wouldn’t have found, if I hadn’t of paid Norene Broyton’s blog a visit. Norene made a post titled – Hear Ye, Hear Ye — A Unique Blogging Tool , which is about a plugin that you will see at the top of each of my posts. It gives you the choice to listen to the blog post, rather than read it. I find it quite fun to listen to.
You can also download the audio as an MP3 or Podcast.
And finally that’s about it. Phew!!.. That was a lot of typing, and yet another long post from me. I do hope I’m not boring anyone with these long posts? And try to keep them as short as I can, while fitting everything in. But it can be hard as you can see.
Right now I’m going to have a well earned rest, and then I’ll get back to joining a few more giveaways. And continue writing my ebook of course, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will have at least finished writing it by the end of next week. Then I will need to look at getting some graphics.
So until next time…
Paul.

Paul Wilson´s last blog ..Press Release – worth it…or not?
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the birthday wishes, for last month. I’ll have to mention it earlier next year… Maybe I’ll get some gifts?
I’ll be sure to give you a shout when my book is ready.
Thanks for stopping by, and visiting so often.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the mention of my blog post! It sounds like you have done a lot in the past 6 weeks. It will be fun to watch how all of those activities help to build your business. It was also motivating for me — I really need to kick things up a notch! -Norene

Hi Norene,
No problem on mentioning your blog post, that plugin was a nice find.
It certainly will be fun and interesting to watch my business grow in the coming months.
I’ve got a lot more stuff planned too, that I haven’t mentioned here yet!
Thanks for visiting!

Hi Paul,
Awesome post!!!!!
I loved reading about what you have been up to! It is a really great idea to write down what you are doing, even the little tasks because it shows what you are achieving. Some days as you know you don’t think you have achieved much, but when you look over what you have done in the last few weeks, you suddenly realise you have done heaps!
Happy Birthday for the other week! 28! I forget where I was at 28. I think I was living in North Queensland then?
That is what I get for having a party of my 20’s. I don’t remember much
Yippy on enrolling yourself in the seminar! you will have an absolute blast! Yes you will feel out of your comfort zone, however the seminars can be addictive. The energy is awesome, you learn heaps and you do meet heaps of people especially if you are open to it. There will be people there just like you, complete newbies to events and on their own. Just smile at everyone and you will be OK. Just remember the speakers there will be there to sell coaching programs as well. That is the name of the game! Go with an open mind, take heaps of notes, don’t sign up to any coaching until the last day, and only sign up if you feel it will benefit you and what you want to achieve.
Keep up the Good Stuff!
Jacinta

Jacinta Dean´s last blog ..Multi Profit Websites!
Hi Jacinta,
Glad you like the post!
You’re dead right it really does help writing everything down you do each day, even the little things. Because if we don’t write it all down, how are we meant to know how far we’ve come on our journey?
Thanks for the birthday wishes, at least I will know where I was when I was 28, it’s all going to be documented right here.
I’m really excited about the seminar, I’m going to be on video aparently, we all have to sign a video release form on entry.
I can’t wait to meet all the new like minded people, and the drinking afterwards sounds good to me too.
Thanks for stopping by.
Paul.
Hey again paul, a really great post and really glad uve overcome your anxiety mate. Making it big in this business seems to be all about overcoming one thing or another and you seem to be making big steps. Lee McIntyre is a great teacher and his content is second to none, youve made a wise choice, given the chance I would have been there too.
Looking forward to seeing the progress youve made in next months post.
Happy belated birthday aswell!
Take care,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I’m just about to do the rounds and comment on a few blogs myself. You were already on my list, so I might as well make your blog my first stop.
Thanks again,
Paul.

Hey Marcus,
It’s really no problem mate I love reading your posts.
Thanks for your comments, and yes I’ve got anxiety problems and I still can’t believe I’m about to go to my first seminar.
I’m really looking forward to it though.
Thanks for visiting,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Very comprehensive and interesting post. It certainly is not boring.
You seem to be a few steps ahead of me which I don’t mind at all since I can learn a thing or two from you. It makes it interesting to watch your progress and learn at the same time.
I got inspired by you to install a Blog Catalog widget.
I will sure learn from your experience with giveaways and can’t wait for the post in which you’ll be covering it.
The journal is something I still struggle with. I use it for a day or two and then skip easily a week or two.
But it is something I’ve never done before.
Your example may help me to overcome the resistance I seem to have.
I think that you are right about concentrating less on the blog and more on list building.
But I hope you’ll still post at least every 3 weeks. That is the frequency I think I’ll adopt.
I’ve seen some bloggers post only once every 2 or 3 months which I think may lose them readers and commentators.
Since you now intend to post your daily tasks monthly it means that you’ll be updating your blog at least that often which would be OK.
Too late to wish you a Happy Birthday so I wish you a Happy Between Birthdays.

Vance Sova´s last blog ..Why Should Your Life Story Matter? Show Up To Harm Or Help ?
Hi Vance,
I’m glad to hear my posts aren’t boring to you, I often wonder if I go on too much. But it certainly seems like people are interested in what I write. So it is a nice confidence booster for me to hear you don’t find my posts boring, and I’m glad my posts are helping you.
I was struggling with the journal myself a few weeks ago, but I’m really starting to get into it now. I will perhaps post some advise about how to make your journal keeping easier?
I still plan to keep posting at least one per week on my blog. Blogging is something I have really grown to love, and I never knew how much fun it could be. I love the thought of looking back at this in a few years time, and seeing how far I have come.
You are write about people who only blog every 2-3 months, your regular readers like to see routine, whether it be once a week or once a month. Anything longer than that will surely lose you readership in the long run.
Thanks for all your comments.
Paul.
Hi Paul your blog posts are very well written ,this post gives an insight over the past two months and I really enjoyed it,focusing on your list is always a good idea,
I too have booked on the lee mckintyre workshop, but not sure if I will be able to make it , but if I do ,will look forward to sharing a beer with you cheers mick
Hi Mick,
Thanks for the comment on my writing, I’m glad you enjoyed reading it.
And if you make it to the workshop I look forward to meeting you, and of course having a drink or two with you.
Paul.
Hey Paul,
First I want to say Happy Belated Birthday! I wish I was 28
.
This was an information packed post about all of your activities, and it’s was neat to see what you spend your time on. It’s also an awesome idea for a blog post once a month.
Good idea on keeping a journal and that comes straight from Alex. I started mine a while back, right after the most recent module with Alex, and I use it every day now. I also look back at different pages from days earlier.
And I wish you the best at your Manchester event! I know first hand how difficult it is to step out of our comfort zones, especially since we have issues with anxiety, but it’s good for us.
I have learned that people are generally light hearted and bascially good, and have accepted me just the way that I am. I am sure, you will be well received because your online presence is just wonderful!
Take care and in short, I am doing really well, just crazy busy,
Karen
P.S. Your Alexa rating is rockin’!
Hi Karen,
Thanks for your comments and belated birthday wishes!
And you’re right, I just know that going to this seminar is going to be great for me, and I can’t wait to go now.
I think I’ve got Alex to thank for the change that has taken place in me, and of course myself for taking action and chosing Alex as my mentor.
Good to hear everything is well at your end, I’ve been busy with lots of stuff recently too.
Take care,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I forgot to ask you something….are you coming to Las Vegas to meeting Alex and everyone in our program in February?
Karen
Hi Karen,
I’m really not sure yet, I should get to meet Alex at this event, and there a quite a few on the coaching going too.
But it would be really great to meet everyone else too, and I would really love to go to Vegas.
The main thing for me is, I have never been abroad so would be the first time on a plane. And to do all that traveling, alone! It might be pushing myself a bit too much, I’ll have to see nearer the time.
There is also the cost to think about, but maybe I’ll be making big money by then?
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I was going to say, I looked forward to meeting you! But if you get to meet Alex and many of the fellow students in Manchester, that’s what matters most.
And I am sure, you’ll be earning money online real soon
Take care,
Karen
Hi again Karen,
Thanks for popping back, and yes that what I was thinking. At least I will get to meet Alex and some of the students from the UK.
But I never say never, so you still could be seeing me in Las Vegas yet?
Paul.
“The rules in this giveaway were that instead of all gifts being shown at the start, you had to earn points by referring people to get your gift shown!”
Aren’t all rules for JV’s like that…or at least similiar?
I have three Twitter accounts and haven’t encountered any problems.
Cheers,
Rod
Rod Macbeth´s last blog ..Life Explained
Hi Rod,
The rules for that giveaway were the opposite to other Giveaways.
In most giveaways all gifts are shown at the start when the most traffic is being sent, but in that giveaway my gift didn’t get shown until the last few days.
Thanks for the the feedback on having more than 1 Twitter account.
And thanks for stopping by.
Paul.
Hi Paul, thanks for the update.
Just yesterday I’m posted an article “How to Find Ideas What to Write on Your Blog Everyday”. I think this article also one of the ideas that people should think about if they come “blank” to write something on his blog.
Hi Syed,
Yes just writing about what you’ve been doing is a great idea if you are stuck for something to write about.
It is also pleasantly surprising to find that people are interested in what you’ve been up to.
I’ll be over to your blog soon to check out your latest post.
Thanks for visiting,
Paul.
Yes, you have to write things down. Ideas don’t always know where they are and they get lost.
Akin to fishing…if you don’t hook’em when you have the chance, they will get away from you.
