25 Things You Should Know About Paul Lear
Hey everyone!
This is an exercise in creative blogging that, The GazzMan, AKA Gary Simpson, has introduced to us over in the Marketing With Alex private forum. It all started with Gary writing 25 things about himself, then he picked 5 random people who he wanted to know more about. And each person who takes up the challenge is to then pick another 5 people out of our fellow students.
I’ve actually been tagged by 3 people, Roger Edwards, Mick Fallon, and Steve Wakefield. Anyway I’ve finally got around to listing my 25 things, so here goes.
1. Paul was born and still lives in Manchester, UK.
2. Paul loves animals, and especially cats.

3. Paul feels strongly about cruelty to animals, seeing and hearing about it upsets and angers him.
4. Paul was once pinned up against a fence by an Alsatian dog, while it overtowered him and repeatedly barked at him. This happened when he was about 4 or 5 years old. His mum managed to distract the dog eventually and he was able to get away unharmed.
5. After the Alsatian incident, Paul developed a fear of dogs. He later got over it, by facing his fear and doing his work experience at a dog boarding kennel, where he was locked in with a variety of different dogs while he cleaned/mucked them out.
6. When Paul was about 13 years old, he and his cousin once collected a small amount of frog spawn from a local pond. He then kept it in a big bucket in his back garden, and studied them as they developed from tadpoles into frogs. He then set them free once they had grown arms and legs, near a local garden that had a pond.
7. Paul loves watching fireworks displays.

8. Paul has had 2 pet cats in his life, and 2 gold fish.
9. On January 14th 2009, Paul’s latest pet cat, Blackie, died aged 14. Paul buried him the next day.

10. Both of Paul’s cats lived to the age of 14.
11. This is the longest period of time that Paul hasn’t had a pet cat. He currently doesn’t have any pets, but daily feeds and looks out for a local cat, that has been practically abandoned by it’s owners.
12. Paul passed his driving test first time.
13. Paul suffers from an generalized anxiety disorder, if you don’t know what an anxiety disorder is you can find out more about it HERE.
14. Paul finds his anxiety problem embarrassing, but does his best to get on with living as normal a life as possible.
15. Paul would like to travel more.
16. Paul has never been abroad.
17. Paul pushed himself this year, and got his first ever video online.
18. Being on the Alex Jeffreys Coaching has had a big effect on Paul, and his friends and family have noticed how upbeat and positive he is now.
19. Paul plans to continue pushing himself out of his comfort zones in his business, and also with his anxiety problem.
20. Paul has added to his plan, a side project in a different niche than Internet Marketing. He plans to keep a journal of his day to day life, and how he copes with anxiety, and then create a product to help others with the same problem.
21. Paul has always been fascinated by clouds, here is a picture Paul took a couple of years ago, of a sunset at the front of his house.

22. Paul likes watching film/movies, and his favourite type of movies are Action, horror, thrillers, and gangster type movie.
23. Paul loves music, and likes to listen to many different genres.
24. Paul is somewhat addicted to playing on games consoles.
25. Paul is interested in doing voluntary work for charity, and his community.
I could go on further but it’s now time to find 5 people who haven’t been tagged and made their list yet. By the time this post goes live their names will be listed below.
I would like to tag:
But will you take up the challenge?
Paul.

Hey Paul,
I am writing mine and was just going to tag you. Headed over here and you beat me to it…just!
I have found this tough, and you have a great list here! I love to read about other people, and it is great to see that you are looking to create a product outside the IM niche. I know how tough anxiety can be, and know a product like this would be huge.
I don’t do horror movies myself. They scare the hell out of me, and I wouldn’t sleep for days!
Take care mate,
Paul
Paul Wilson´s last blog ..7 Step Success Formula – NOW LIVE!
Hey Paul,
Yeah I’ve already been tagged 3 times, I just about managed to post this before you became the 4th person to tag me.
I actually found it pretty easy to write my list, it took me about 40 mins on Sunday. I wrote them out on paper while watching the darts final.
My cousin is the same about horror movies, they give him nightmares. I personally love a good horror movie, and often watch them just before going to bed.
I’ll come and check your 25 things out, and leave you a comment shortly.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Good to get to know you a bit better!
It seems we have some things in common – I love animals and I also did my work experience in a kennels/cattery. Loved every second of it (well maybe not the boxer dogs knocking me over and covering me in dog poo, but I could smile about it once I got cleaned up!)
Well done for pushing yourself aswell – I think your product idea sounds great and as Rich Schefren recently taught us, the most successful products are those that help people deal with/solve a real problem in their lives, so I’m sure it’ll be a big success.

Steve Wakefield
Steve Wakefield´s last blog ..25 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me (and probably don’t want to!)
Hey Steve,
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I quite enjoyed my work experience too, although my employer had us doing more weeding and garden duties than anything else.
Things changed when we started to complain though. I really enjoyed working with dogs and overcoming my fear of them. Like the place you were at, we also had a cattery at this place too, but most of the cats were very aggressive, as they hate being caged in. But overall I had really good time and a good laugh, as I there was a friend from school doing the work with me.
As for my product idea, if I can help just one person live a better life, it will have been a success to me. I’m also looking forward to building a list of people with the same problem as me.
Thanks again,
Paul.
Hey Paul,
Cool stuff man! I got tagged in this too but I haven’t managed to get my response online yet. It’s great to learn more about my peers. I also have two cats. I am sorry to hear that your cat died recently.
That is some cool info about yourself and it’s a cool idea for a blog post.

Hey Matt,
Good to see you again, it took me a while to get my response online too.
Glad to see you’re another cat lover, I plan to get another kitten maybe next year.
I look forward to seeing your 25 things.
Paul.
Great stuff Paul ! Nice cat pics ! Some time ago, I was surprised to discover that I am a cat person too. I can’t have one now because of where I live, so I visit my sister whenever I can – she has two ! (Double trouble … lol !) I know how difficult it is when the little fellers leave
You seem to have overcome many trials in your life and I’m really glad to hear that our work on Alex Jeffreys’ training programme has helped with that.
Nice going

Hey Roger,
Glad to hear you are cat person too, and yes it is hard when they leave us. I actually coped with losing my cat a lot better than I thought I would, I always used to dread the day that I would lose him, but I know he lived a good life so that made it easier. It’s kind of why I got so into this internet marketing game, it helped to take my mind of it.
Thanks for stopping by and taking your time to leave a comment.

Hey Paul,
I was attacked by a dog when I was 6 or 7 still got the scars although they have shrunk quite a bit.
Even after being bitten I am a dog man myself but do have two cats thanks to my wife but also have a boxer dog.
Great idea for a product and well done for pushing yourself.

Hey James,
Sorry to hear you were actually attacked by a dog, and got bitten! Thankfully for me this particular dog only barked, and probably just wanted to play.
I’m glad to hear the experience hasn’t put you off dogs, as they are very nice loyal animals. Interesting that you have 2 cats as well as a dog, I guess they get used to each other if you introduce them while they’re young enough?
Thanks for stopping by and taking your time to leave a comment.

Hi Paul,
Wow, you tagged me. I don’t know if I can come up with 25 things about myself. I read your’s and it’s nice to read about other people, it makes you feel like you know them better.
I will start working on my 25 things and post it very soon.

It’s not that hard once you get going, although the last few can be hard for some people. I actually came up with too many.
I look forward to reading your 25.
Paul.
Hey Paul,
Good list you have there.
And yes, I’m a big Dragons Den fan. But I’m sure that they will destroy it as they do every other program when it becomes popular.
And I’ll be very interested to read your anxiety diary. I definitely think that you are heading in the right direction. Doing a video is surely a big step for you. Not something I have managed to bring myself to do yet.
Andy
Andy Michaels´s last blog ..25 Things You Didn’t Know (Or Care) About Andy Michaels
Hey Andy,
I thought you’d be into Dragons Den, I’d be surprised if most of our fellow students were not.
Making a product about anxiety is something I’ve always planned to do, so the skills I’m learning now from Alex, are going to help me big time when it comes to releasing it.
Yes, doing a video was a big step for me, I never thought I would have the courage put a video online, but when I saw others doing it, it made me push forward and follow suit.
I’m sure you’ll get one up eventually, just keep practicing until you do a good take, and get it on Youtube. That’s what I did.
Thanks for stopping by, Andy.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Interesting points Paul,:)
From what I have read I think what stands out for me is how you have faced your fears and overcome them you can povercome most things in life! with that frame of mind, nothing will hold you back.
My daughter has a real fear of dogs and whenever we are out, she just jumps up into my arms, but hopefully she’ll overcome this too.
Great job Paul.
Talk soon.
Sean
Hi Sean,
Yes, it’s only when I read through them that I realize I’ve done quite well at facing and overcoming things, the latest being doing my first videos. I think that mindset has got me to where I am today, otherwise I think I’d still be chasing the money.
I’m sure your daughter will grow out of her fear of dogs, it got easier for me as I grew taller. The main thing that bothered me when I was a child, was that some dogs were bigger than me!
Thanks for visiting, and taking the time to leave a comment.

Hi Paul,
I think you’re really on the right path, continually stepping out of your comfort zone so you keep growing, expanding your circle of influence and therefore being able to help and inspire others along the way. Takes courage. Well done

Hi Paul,
Your list of 25 things is a piece of easy, good reading. Clean and fluid, you really have a way with words!
#21 is great, I also used to watch clouds a lot, but as I grew up I lost it. Watching a cloudy sky or a starry one at night was delight, I hope I can get that back.
Great list again and I wish you can make further progress with your anxiety condition (how about trying the rosary?).
Cheers, Jose
PS You visited my blog days ago; it was all knocked down and now I’ve done some rebuilding. Would you mind stopping by again?
Jose´s last blog ..How to find time to build a blog
Hi Jose,
Thanks for the compliments on my writing, I try to do my best.
I have a video course that I keep meaning to start, that should help me with my anxiety condition. As for trying the rosary, do you mean rosary beads? I’m not really religious if that’s what you mean. But I will practically try anything to see if it will help, so maybe I will try praying, it can’t hurt.
I actually remember visiting your blog when it was ‘knocked down’ as you put it. I’ll head right over there now, I’m glad you’ve got it started now.
Thanks for dropping in on me,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
This was such an interesting post to learn more about you and I have so much in common with you. I held back from writing this online, but I have social anxiety disorder, I went though CBT and EMDR therapy for 24 months to overcome it, but then my doctor just put me on medication that I take each morning before I leave the house.
I almost had a tear in my eye when you wrote “…Paul finds his anxiety problem embarrassing, but does his best to get on with living as normal a life as possible,” I get it Paul. I feel the same.
You’re a great inspiration, because now I want to push forward and create my video, too. And push past my comfort zones. I find it interesting that this was the very first blog that I visited this morning to read and I am so glad that I landed here.
Thanks for this post Paul, you’re the best,
Karen
Hey Karen,
Thanks for sharing that with me, I thought I would be the only one to have an anxiety problem on this coaching course. It make me feel much better knowing I’m not the only one. It just goes to show how anxiety disorders are becoming more common these days.
I used to be on medication to help with it too, but after about 8 months I asked my doctor to take me off it, It was making me feel very ill. I’ve coped without any medication now for about 4-5 years.
I was also in two minds whether to write about my anxiety problem on this blog, but I’ve always found that being upfront and telling people about it, helps me deal with it.
I’m glad to hear I’ve inspired you to try and get your first video online, just do a few takes and upload the best one. And use bullet points so you know what you’re going to be talking about. Once you’ve got the first video out there you realize it wasn’t such a big deal after all. What I will say is don’t rush it, I wish I’d done a few more takes before putting my first one up.
If you need any help with anything just give me a shout. Also try Josh Bartlett’s Video Marketing Classroom – http://www.videomarketingclassroom.com It’s completely free.
Take care,

Thanks for visiting, for me the plan part was definitely the missing piece. Another problem I had was taking action, but I don’t have that problem any more, as my plan takes care of that.
the foreign travel and holidays certainly will come, I will make sure of that.
Cheers!

Hey Paul,
I like your list a lot. I also hate cruelty to animals. I was almost arrested once once, for takling a guy who kicked his Jack Russell outside a supermarket because it was barking. I said to him “How would you like me to kick you”?
All of a sudden, the bully went all meek and mild.
Anyway, interesting read and well done mate,
Andrew.
Hi Andrew,
Glad you like my list, and good on you for tackling someone who was being cruel to their dog, some people just don’t deserve to have a pet.
Thanks for stopping by mate.

Hi Paul,
Okay! You tagged me… I have been lucky apparently. I’m more of a dog person and never had any problems with the pups. Don’t mind cats I just can’t get over the kitty litter box in the house.
I’m with you on movies accept for the horror movies – can’t even take the fake blood.
Take care,
~ Julie
Hi Julie,
Yeah sorry about tagging you
It’s actually quite fun once you get into it.
I find a lot of people I meet don’t like horror movies much, they really don’t bother me. They used to when I was a kid though.
I’ll look out for your 25 things post,
Paul.
Hi Paul
Well I got tagged twice – you were one of them. Well I did them.
I know what an anxiety disorder is like, my son has suffered with severe panic attacks, when I say severe I mean they ended in seizures, so I can empathise with anyone going through anxiety problems. If you would like to chat with someone who understands, then please feel free to email me. Glad to hear you are a man after my own heart, love cats. I have five – I will have to post a picture of them on my blog. Animal cruelty really makes my blood boil.
Great post. Good to know something about you.
Cheers – Barbara

I’m glad you took the challenge up, I’ll be over to look at them and leave you a comment shortly.
Sorry to hear your son has suffered with severe panic attacks, it sounds a lot worse that what I have. I hope he’s getting better?
Yes you should definitely post some pictures of your cats on your blog, I’d love to see them.
I’ll be over to vist your blog soon,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
An excellent list, thank you for sharing. I can totally identify with number 2 – I’m obsessed with cats. Humans I generally tend not to bother with too much *smile* but cats are my weakness. I love them! And yes, I am undoubtedly going to become a mad old cat lady (even more than I am already!). We’ve always had a family cat so I’ve grown up with them around.
Regarding 13 and 14, kudos to you for sharing that with everyone. My brother suffers in a very similar way and it bothers me immensely that I am powerless to help him.
Following your no. 16 – this year was the first time that I went abroad at all, and that was to Las Vegas for the seminar that Alex put on for the first intake of students. So my first adventure on a plane etc was halfway across the world! I loved every minute of it.
20 is an excellent way to turn a negative experience into a positive, I think that’s a great way of looking at it. There are many others in the same situation as you.
23 – I listen to loads of music. I rarely watch TV, I mostly dance around like an idiot and sing to whatever I happen to be listening to at the time.
Thanks for sharing your list with everyone!

Hey Nikki,
Glad to hear you are a cat lover too, I also always had a cat around while I was growing up, probably why I like them so much.
Sorry to hear your brother suffers with a similar problem to mine, hopefully it’s something he will grow out of as he gets older? That’s what I’m hoping will happen in my case.
And about the product I plan create, yes, I thought I might as well make some good come out it. And what better way than to try and help others in the same situation.
Thanks for stopping by, and commenting.
Paul.
Hi Paul,
WOW WOW WOW. Absolutely amazing post and awesome comments.
You should be so proud of yourself and your achievements. Anxiety can be such a debilitating problem. (I know, I have suffered on and off for the last 10 years.)
You should definitely write your journal about it all, and maybe set up a tandem blog to this one dedicated to anxiety and associated problems with it.
I was not one for the medication road and have dealt with mine naturally. I basically learnt what sets me off and avoid those situations as best as possible. Management is KEY!
Blackie is beautiful. I am sorry he passed. I have a Black cat who looks exactly like Blackie, but mine is called “Nemo”. He is a big 7kilogram boy who is a big smootch. I would be devastated if he passed.
The 25 things about me is a great blog post idea. It allows you to share information that you normally wouldn’t. Maybe I should start one over in the John Thornhill students world!
Stay Focused & Be Good To You!
Kind Regards

Hi Jacinta,
Thanks for the idea on the anxiety blog, it’s actually something I thought about doing at the beginning of this year but I never followed the idea through. It was around about the same time I started out on this internet marketing journey. I think I’ll have to add that idea to my plan.
I did go on medication, as you may have read in one of my comments, but it made me feel ill. I cope with mine naturally too now, and have done for some years now. It’s comforting to know that there are quite a few others who read my blog with a similar problem to me. But at the same time it is also saddening to hear just how common a problem it is becoming.
Glad you like the pictures of Blackie, maybe you can post some pictures of your cat on your blog, especially if you are thinking of doing a 25 things about you post.
I think you should definitely start a 25 things exercise, with your fellow students on the John Thornhill coaching. It really helps to bring interest to your blog, and encourages natural comments.
Thanks for mentioning me in your blog post, I really appreciate that.
Paul.
Great blog, guy. Interesting stuff.
Having consulted about wellness for years now, I suggest your anxiety is likely a hormonal thing. Lack of, that is.
To give your body what it needs to build all 87 hormones so you can feel better once again, please add more phytosterols and monosaccharides to your diet. This tends to give people more of a feeling of well being and it also improves your health to boot. Most of us are deficient in these by the way.
