This is just a bit of fun, getting some practice in front of the camera
Hey guys,
This is just me having a bit of fun and getting some more practice in front of the camera, I’m trying to be myself on this video without letting my nerves get in the way. I’m definitely getting more confident in front of the camera. I actually managed to smile on this video
What I took from watching this video back was, that I need to either stop myself moving around so much, or do my videos sitting down. I tend to feel better doing them standing up, but if I can’t stop moving about then I’ll have to do them sitting down and get used to it.
Another thing I’m learning to do, is not worry too much about what people are going to think of me, that was the biggest thing I had to get over before doing my first video. I’m definitely seeing improvements on each video I’ve done so far, athough I’ve still got a long way to go before I’m ready to appear in my first Hollywood movie.
Anyway I had fun making it, editing it and it makes me laugh when watching it back. So all in all I’m pretty happy with it. You’ll see what I mean when I say I had some fun editing it when you watch it.
I was planning to make another for the competition entry, but I’ve had a headache all day that won’t shift. So that’s that.
Anyway if you could leave me a quick comment that would be cool.
I’m off to watch a DVD now called, Takedown. Quite an old movie, it’s supposed to be the squeal to Hackers So hopefully it will be good?
.
I’ll be back with another post soon, I’ve found a good free tool for creating graphics.

Paul,
Great new video and more then anything, you’re an inspiration for us that haven’t yet created one. But I can so totally see the value in creating videos. It really makes you get to know someone. I am hoping to get my video done this weekend and finally get it up on my blog.
Great work here Paul,
Take care,
Karen
Hey Karen,
Thank you for watching and giving me some feedback on my latest video. And I’m glad you found it inspiring, that was part of my aim with it.
I look forward to watching yours soon, and I’ll give you some feedback on it when you do.
Thanks for visiting, I will stop by your blog in a moment.
Paul.
Hey Paul
Great video, you are definitely getting more confident in front of the camera.
One thing I now need to do again is PLAN. I have lost a bit of focus again the last few days, and need to get it all neatly planned out like yours
Take care,
Paul

Hey Paul,
Yeah when you come to the end of your plan, you need to create a new one right away, or as you say you will lose some focus and start drifting from one thing to the next.
I feel much better now I know what I’ll be doing for the next couple of months.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
Great Job!

Thanks for the advice.

Paul,
Well! What can I say!
How utterly refreshing and may I say delightful.
I watched your first video, and, yes you were nervous but you were brave enough to do it and present it to us.
I have just watched this video on this posting and might I say I had a smile on my face for the captions that appeared. You added humour to the video and I would love to know what program you used please and how you put the captions on there.
You are a natural and it is important not to lose that.
I also found the rest of your site very informative and I have taken away some great tips about Plugins too.
Excellent videos and great content.
Thanks heaps Paul
Cheers
Carol
PS I have bookmarked your site as I truly love your videos
Carol Harridge´s last blog ..22. Falling Down, Getting Up! – Not Giving Up!
Hi Carol,
Firstly thank you for the compliments, and such a great comment.
Now the program I used to edit the video with those captions is called Camtasia. You can get a free fully functional 30 day trial by going to their site – http://www.techsmith.com/download/camtasiatrial.asp . So you could edit as many videos as you like before the 30days is up, I think?
The full version is $299, which is what I am using. So I’m not 100% sure if you can edit as many videos as you like in the free trial, but it sounds like you can. The other great thing about Camtasia, and it’s main feature, is that you can also do screen capture presentations.
To add captions to your video you simply import the video into Camtasia, mark on the timeline the part of the video you want the caption to appear. Then click on Callouts in the left side menu, and it will give you lots of different options.
To see exactly how it’s done, there is some great video tutorials on how to use the software here – http://www.techsmith.com/learn/camtasia/getting-started/default.asp
Those are the tutorials that I used to learn how to use the software to create those captions.
I hope that helps? If you get stuck with it let me know and I’ll try and help.
Thanks again for the great comment, and for visiting.
Paul.

Hey Mick,
Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate it.
Also you are the second person to tag me, I’ve just not had time to respond yet, I’m a bit ill at the moment.. But thanks for tagging me, I wanted to join in on that.
I’ll get my list of 25 things ready and post it very soon.

Hey Paul,
Well done for conquering your fears and getting a few videos done mate. I know how hard it is cos I was well out of my comfort zone doing mine.
You come across really genuine, and the fact that you are a bit self deprecating in your videos makes them more endearing to the viewer.
The call outs made me smile, “meant to shave!” and “should have stopped recording!”
Great stuff and just you being you which is the whole point of the exercise ie people getting to know the real you!
Keep it up,

Thanks for the compliments, I’m glad the call outs made you smile.
I liked your video too, as I mentioned over at your blog, great stuff.
Cheers!
Paul.
Hi Paul, fairplay to you my friend for pointing out the planning part and being honest with the video. It is certainly coming on, and the little captions show that you are learning all the time.
As for the moving about have you thought about sitting down when recording?
Keep up the excellent work, i’ll be back soon

Hey Barry,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Yes, as soon as I watched it back I thought, I’ll try sitting down next time.
I’ll speak to you soon,
Paul.
Hey Paul,
Hey Man I’m getting sea sick. Stop moving around. lol!
I’m just messing with you. You did fine. So what if you’re
a little nervous at least you got in front of the camera and
faced your fears.
I’ve done several videos but only my subscribers have seen them
and they are of the tutorial type so you don’t see my ugly mug.
I have only done one video of myself and put on Youtube and it’s
not easy. I felt like a jerk. I thought it sucked actually. But
many people gave me encouragement and told me they liked it(they lied to make me feel good). I haven’t done another one since but
I need to do more. We’ll see.
Anyway, keep them coming and you’ll get better with each one. At
least that’s what they tell me.
til next time…

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it. I think I prefer the screen capture tutorial type videos too, put I’m still going to try and get in front of the camera as often as I can. Even if I don’t upload it to youtube, it’s all good practice.
I actually saw your video and left you a comment at your blog, and I honestly did think it was pretty good.
Thanks for stopping by,
Paul.

Hi Tank,
Yeah I ended up taking this video down, I watched it back and decided it was too embarrassing…
There was probably nothing wrong with it, and from the comments above people seemed to like it, but I just didn’t feel comfortable leaving it up anymore.
I will do some better videos soon, I’m actually going to take a little online course in Public speaking, so that should help.
I will email you in a sec, and you can reply with your question.. Sorry for not getting back to you last time you emailed me, I’m very busy at the moment.
